I primarily work with Dads with obesity (BMI>30) who are looking to improve their health so that they can better play with their kids and enjoy more activity in their lives. Along the way they learn how to decrease overall health risks, improve self image, and be a better role model for their kids and family. Felling much better these days!

When you train with BigZigFitness, we’ll take a look at your current health, activity levels, intake (food!), and desired activity levels. Together we’ll set some long, mid, and short term goals. These will be your goals, not mine, but I will help you achieve them. You will receive help with accountability, workout plans, and some very basic nutritional guidance.

No special dieting required!

My return to fitness began about eight years ago when I realized that I had let my health deteriorate for about three years; I’d simply given up. Sound familiar? I lacked energy, ambition, and my asthma was kicking in more and more frequently. We had two older boys at home as well as their three year old brother. All three gave me a run for my money, and I was having a tough time keeping up. A friend invited me to be part of a half-marathon relay team; my leg would be 6 miles. The experience left me exhausted, but determined to get off of my butt and DO something about it. Since then I’ve completed five half marathons, two full marathons, two Spartan Sprint races, and a 50 mile trail race.
Over the past four years, I have had three back surgeries to repair a herniated disc, but have managed to keep my weight and health in check by watching what I eat and exercising smartly.
My three basic tenets are Patience, Persistence, and Positivity. I believe that you need all three to be successful in attaining your fitness goals. Yes, there will be times when one or more might be absent, and that’s OK. This is not an “all or nothing” game.
